Provide dental professionals with the knowledge and understanding required for the appropriate use of medical emergency drugs.

Objectives

By the end of this session participants will have been:

  1. Briefed on the contents of a dental emergency drug kit
  2. Guided on the correct methods of drug administration
  3. Briefed on the scope of practice regarding which dental professionals are authorised to administer specific medications
  4. Guided on the appropriate circumstances in which to seek further medical assistance.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this session participants should be able to:

  1. Outline the full contents of a dental emergency drug kit
  2. Understand the correct methods of drug administration, including appropriate paediatric dosages
  3. Understand the scope of practice regarding which dental professionals are authorised to administer specific medications
  4. Understand the appropriate circumstances in which to seek further medical assistance.
