Discuss the pathophysiology, epidemiology, clinical features and management of oral cancer so that delegates can safely detect and refer potential cases appropriately.
Objectives
By the end of this session participants will have been:
- Discussed the pathophysiology of oral cancer
- Considered the epidemiology of oral cancer in Scotland
- Identified a range of clinical features that make a lesion high risk.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this session participants should be able to:
- Know the epidemiology of oral cancer
- Recognise the red flag signs and symptoms of oral cancer
- Know what action to take as a dentist when a patient presents with oral cancer
- Have knowledge of oral potentially malignant disorders.
