This presentation aims to deepen our understanding of the physical limits of our bodies as dental professionals, focusing on how we use our muscles and bodies during day to day activities and clinical work. Participants will be able to apply these effectively within the general practice setting.
This is an interactive session with very gentle chair Loose Hands exercises.
Objectives
By the end of this session participants will have been:
- Identify some of the causes why dental professionals are suffering from muscular skeletal issues.
- Recognize the importance of the core and posture.
- Recognising a good muscle twist from a bad muscle twist.
- Identifying the best ergonomic tools and products for the dental practice.
- Incorporate simple strategies to relieve muscle tension and integrate short stretches into your daily routine.
- Engaging the dental team to optimize ergonomic performance.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this session participants should be able to:
- Pinpoint the cause of the musculoskeletal pain.
- Adjust the working practice ergonomically.
- Daily reminder of the importance of neutral posture and strong core muscles.
- Recognise the importance of daily stretching.
- Choose the ergonomic tools available.
- Incorporate ergonomic advice into daily general dental practice.
