Piezo tip selection, air-polishing and powders

The aim of the session is to broaden the dental health professional’s understanding of the practical uses of debridement equipment and the scientific evidence regarding dental composite systems and air-polishing and enhance daily practice in the maintenance of such restorations.

Objectives

By the end of this session participants will have been:

  1. Compare the differences between magnetostrictive and piezoelectric ultrasonic scalers. 
  2. Heighten awareness of the available air polishing powders and their uses.
  3. Be equipped with the knowledge to implement appropriate protocols for restoration maintenance in practice.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this session participants should be able to:

  1. Be able to demonstrate effective piezo tip techniques.
  2. Be equipped with the knowledge to implement appropriate protocols for restoration maintenance in practice.
  3. Have gained awareness of the efficiency of air-polishing systems.
  4. Will be familiar with the evidence around air-polishing and dental restorations.
