The Dental Defence Union (DDU) is a mutual, not-for-profit organisation owned by its members, providing access to professional indemnity and guiding, supporting and defending its members throughout their careers.

As the specialist dental division of the Medical Defence Union, the UK’s leading defence organisation, DDU has a long history and proven track record of being there for dental professionals in times of need.

The organisation is proud to be run and staffed by dentists. This means that when members call on the DDU for help, they will talk to someone who understands the realities of a dental practice and has the experience and knowledge to guide them safely through whatever they are facing.

More than just indemnity

DDU membership offers more than just indemnity when facing a claim for clinical negligence. It can give expert advice on a wide range of dento-legal issues to help navigate everyday practice, and its team is available 24 hours a day to make sure members have support when needed.

DDU can help deal with a complaint, a GDC or police investigation, media intrusion, a court appearance, or whatever else professional life might throw at members.
