The Scottish Dental Study Club (SDSC), created by Dr Tariq Bashir and Dr Saimah Ahmed, celebrates its fifth anniversary this year.

Founded in 2018 the initial concept was a local bi-monthly evening of study for dental colleagues to access CPD, discuss treatment plans and network. However, feedback from these evening events highlighted a huge demand and need for high-quality hands-on day courses, as many colleagues were unable to travel extensively to acquire the knowledge and skills from top clinicians in the UK and abroad.

SDSC aims to raise the bar in Scottish dentistry and improve professional networking in these difficult times of over-regulation and demotivation. SDSC is proud to have hosted world-renowned clinicians who are leaders in their field from the UK, Europe and America.

They are thankful for the trade support from leading dental companies for their help in supporting events and providing materials for which SDSC is always grateful.

The vision for the Scottish Dental Study Club has always been to serve the dental community and benefit the wider community and humanity through their events. They have been able to support multiple charities by donating a percentage of profits from all events and ran a series of charity webinars during lockdown 2020 raising £5,000 for a domestic abuse charity. They were honoured to work with the Canmore Trust in 2022 to help raise £7,000 for suicide awareness and prevention, in addition to this they have also donated towards an eye camp abroad.
