The aim of this session is to teach the important features of occlusion and understand when and how to use occlusal splints.
Objectives
By the end of this session participants will have been:
- The key features of occlusion and what to aim for when restoring teeth and using splints.
- Which splint to use for various situations including TMD, bruxism, sleep apnoea and tooth wear.
- Which clinical records to take for each splint.
- How to fit, adjust and monitor splint therapies.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this session participants should be able to:
- Select and use a splint for a range of clinical situations including clenching, bruxism, different levels of TMD, sleep apnoea.
- Successfully use occlusal splints.
- Fit, adjust and monitor splints.
- Treat TMD and tooth wear more effectively and manage bruxists and clenchers.
