Mary graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 2009 and has worked as a General Dental Practitioner in Northern Ireland and Scotland. She attained membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh in 2015.

Since 2021, Mary has supervised undergraduate students in Paediatric Dentistry at the Dundee Dental Hospital and Research School.
