Mark Greenwood

Professor Mark Greenwood BDS, MDS, PhD, MB ChB, FDSRCS (Eng.), FRCS (Eng. and Ed.), FRCS (OMFS), FHEA, National Teaching Fellow

Mark Greenwood is a Professor of Medicine and Surgery for Dentistry at the University of Manchester, a post he has held since January 2023.

For several years, until December 2022, he had been an NHS consultant and Head of Department in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Honorary Professor of Medical Education in Dentistry at Newcastle-upon-Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Newcastle University.  He has published widely on medical issues in relation to dentistry and in 2008 obtained a National Teaching Fellowship.

As a consultant surgeon Professor Greenwood sub-specialised in orthognathic surgery and was a previous Co-Clinical Director for the Dental and Maxillofacial Directorate in Newcastle.

The opportunity to focus on teaching led him to move to a part-time post in Manchester and he is now focused on this important area of dental education.
