The aim of this session is to provide training on using camera equipment in order to obtain good quality images for oral and maxillofacial patients and the processes involved.
Objectives
By the end of this session participants will have been:
- Introduced to the legal and ethical considerations for clinical photography with patients.
- Provided with an outline the process for obtaining consent for clinical photography.
- Demonstrated the set up and use of clinical camera equipment.
- Shown how to capture good quality images of the head and neck using appropriate equipment (mirrors, retractors).
- Provided with identification of issues from clinical photography and shown how to carry out remedial actions.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this session participants should be able to:
- Select the appropriate equipment for use in dental photography.
- Understand the importance of patient consent before capture.
- Produce quality images for diagnostic and teaching purposes.
- Share new knowledge and skills with colleagues to support better photography of their patients.
