Provide dental professionals with the knowledge and understanding required for the appropriate use of medical emergency drugs.
Objectives
By the end of this session participants will have been:
- Briefed on the contents of a dental emergency drug kit
- Guided on the correct methods of drug administration
- Briefed on the scope of practice regarding which dental professionals are authorised to administer specific medications
- Guided on the appropriate circumstances in which to seek further medical assistance.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this session participants should be able to:
- Outline the full contents of a dental emergency drug kit
- Understand the correct methods of drug administration, including appropriate paediatric dosages
- Understand the scope of practice regarding which dental professionals are authorised to administer specific medications
- Understand the appropriate circumstances in which to seek further medical assistance.
