This session aims to introduce participants to safe nutrition and lifestyle advice in the dental setting, for patient wellbeing and better outcomes.
Objectives
By the end of this session participants will have been introduced to:
- Safe nutritional advice for patients and the supporting evidence.
- Oral and general manifestations that are linked to nutrient insufficiency or deficiency.
- When to and who to signpost to when needed
- Working with a diet diary.
- Lifestyle considerations that impact patient wellbeing and outcomes.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this session participants should be able to:
- Understand the need for nutritional and lifestyle support with dental patients and to be aware of the supporting evidence.
- List oral and general health consideration related to nutritional insufficiencies or deficiencies.
- Understand when to refer to an appropriate person for a multidisciplinary approach.
- Apply safe nutritional support using a diet diary.
- Be aware of lifestyle considerations that may impact patients.
